Ordered a fabulous pink birthday cake from Pastries by Design with a black bow and pink high heel. The cake was AMAZING! Not only did it took like a million bucks but it tasted beyond delicious. The cake far exceed my expectations and I highly recommend Pastries by Design. I will be back! Outstanding!!

I've been back twice since my 1st review & their cupcakes are DE-LIC-OUS! 2nd time I had the key lime cupcake (YUM) & today my husband brought me a red velvet cupcake (& typically I'm not a red velvet fan because many don't get it right) but Pastries by Design got it right! I love this place!!! The most consistent place I've been to so far while being in Bradenton.

I'm sold! My parents ordered 2 birthday cakes for me from here and both were out of this world. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache-to die for and one with almond cake and choc moose. People from my party were still talking about the cake weeks later. I then ordered my mom a carrot cake for her birthday, and very impressed. The cake was dense, yet very moist and the cream cheese icing was perfect-not overly sweet. It was also decorated beautifully. It had beautiful sparkly blue sugar butterflies all over it (and I hadn't even asked for it). I recently got an assortment of cupcakes for my husband's birthday and they were great too. Many of the cupcakes had filling inside which was a nice surprise. The chocolate raspberry was great! The prices are on the higher side, but definitely worth it for the quality of cake you are getting. Pastries by design is definitely my go-to stop for every occasion!

CAKES: 5 STARS CUPCAKES: 4 STARS I've always enjoyed their Boston creme cupcakes, but recently ordered a custom cake and it was awesome!! I sent them a couple pictures of what I wanted along with a description and included a copy of my invitation and, voila!; the cake was exactly what I wanted. It was just beautiful. Presentation is important, but taste is what matters most. I love their Boston creme cupcake (yellow cake, custard and a dark chocolate ganache), but I was swayed by their almond cake. It was the perfect amount of sweet almond flavor. I got the chocolate butter creme but wish I had gotten a dark chocolate ganache. I forgot I don't like butter cream. It takes forever to get to the perfect consistency in room temperature. I'm a little pickier when it comes to cupcakes. I like cupcakes to be moist with flavorful but not overly sweet frosting. These are close, but just not perfect for me. The Boston creme is amazing though. The rest were pretty good too, but the butter cream frosting is too sweet and lardy for me. I'm looking forward to order more cakes from here and picking up a BC cupcake though.

I'm not from the area, but my brother was getting married in Sarasota at the end of May and we wanted a groom's cake for him. We went to the bakery and after tasting a delicious cupcake they made right there for us, we decided on a white cake filled with coconut and rum. We were all very excited. The cake was beautiful, however, it didn't taste anything like we wanted. First, there was NO rum and only a slight taste of coconut. What a disappointment. The day after the wedding, I returned to the bakery with the concern. They promised to check what happened and call me back. I am still waiting for the call....

OMG!!! You have GOT TO try cup cakes here! My FAV is the Maple Bacon! it acutally have pieces of bacon in the middle of the cupcake! THANK GOD I don't live around the corner from this place!!! MUST GO!!!

Amazing! Although you may have to deal with the flavors of the day there are plenty to please and expand you palette!

Bought cupcakes for a holiday dinner. They were wet and stale. I returned them after the holiday. The owner of the store was not there so they offered to give me replacement cupcakes which I did not want or need. They refused to credit my account or give me a store credit. I left a message for the owner to call me. She didn't. I called again and left a message. I went back to the store twice more. I finally caught the owner there and she said she had never received any messages. She interrogated me about the cupcakes, "well were they wet or stale?" I said, "I was a guest at a holiday dinner and brought them for dessert and they were inedible. I brought them to the store to show you." She said that she didn't see them. (Maybe she should work in the store.) She finally gave me a credit for a cake which they made and I brought to a birthday party. It was disgusting. 2 people had upset stomachs after eating it.
